Example Use Cases for Contextual Data

Contextual data is used to provide you with more information about your users so you may return a more relevant, personalized experience. It also reduces the amount of data entry required by your mobile employees and customers, speeding adoption of your services. It can be something as simple as a zip code or login. Typically it is a combination of data, such as employee name, number, GPS coordinates, password, screen size and resolution, and device ID. Q: How does your software work?

A: 5o9® software functions as a Web server filter and a browser plug-in. For more detailed information, please visit How it Works.

Q: Does 5o9 ever see my users’ data?

A: 5o9 is client-server software, not a service or transcoding engine. We never see, intercept or forward your data. Your data privacy policies are between you and your mobile users.

Q: What data comes standard with your application?

Every business is different, so you determine what information you need to deliver to your Web applications. We simply provide the transport mechanism to get it there.

5o9® Mobile Data Manager comes standard with a diagnostic application that includes basic device and network data, with the factory defaults set to OFF. Troubleshooting cannot occur until the data fields are turned on and the 5o9® support site is visited. NO personally identifying data is ever transmitted. The diagnostic application should only be used when you or your support partner have exhausted all internal troubleshooting options.

Q: Can I be sure no one else sees my mobile users’ data?

A: All clients and servers are paired to a fully qualified URL that front-ends your Web application. Data from your user’s client application cannot be sent to another company’s Web site.

Q: Do you support on-device branding?

A: In most cases, users will spend their time in the browser. Branding your application is replaced with your branded Web pages and services. If your strategy includes a full GUI client, or simply a home page icon, our browser plug-in design works in the background to ensure your on-device branding remains intact.

Q: What if I already have a mobile application and just need to add one or two pieces of data?

A: Not a problem. Many applications were built before GPS or other features were added to smartphones and Pocket PCs. The additional contextual data can go along for the ride when you make your sockets call. APIs are available for easy integration.

Q: Is your software expensive?

A: We have strived to keep our software affordable to most businesses and business models. Unlike a mobile service provider or mobile application development platform, 5o9® is a software company and does not require you to buy dedicated hardware or share transactional revenue.
